ArmorGrid Pavement Stabilization

Reinforced pavement structure solutions for roads, culverts, paths, emergency lanes, parking lots, green parking, and Low Impact Development projects.

ArmorGrid™ Features

100% Recycled (LDPE) Plastic

Other grids claim to be made from recycled plastic, but it’s important to know which plastic they are composed of specifically. Here is a brief comparison between HDPE(High-density Polyethylene) and LDPE(Low-density Polyethylene).

HDPE grids tend to be brittle, especially in low temperatures. This means it has poor resiliency as a permeable surface. Because this plastic is usually more stiff, the weight of a vehicle will easily break the plastic. A paving structure requires more flexibility than HDPE is able to provide.

LDPE on the other hand is the plastic found in heavy-duty plastic bags, and the advantage of using this plastic specifically, is because it remains malleable and flexible in both extreme cold and warm weather, which prevents snapping or cracking from even the heaviest of vehicle traffic. ArmorGrid adapts to all climates, easily.

Besides LDPE, Another unique aspect that makes ArmorGrid the premium geocell, is the manufacturing method called injection moulding. Although a bit more lengthy than other methods, the injection moulding process is a meticulous manufacturing method that results in you getting a more durable grid. In fact, we’re so confident in how well ArmorGrid is made, that we include a 10-year manufacturer’s limited warranty* with your purchase.

A Fully Permeable System

Permeability is one of our most passionate subjects here at IOWAT GROUP INC.

ArmorGrid was originally designed in the early 1990’s as a strong permeable alternative to weak asphalt and expensive concrete. Millions of square feet have now been installed across the planet because of its ability to support tremendous amounts of weight and because we’re realizing more and more how important it is to deal with stormwater immediately where it lands.

ArmorGrid’s engineered design integrates a 90% open area, meaning that it allows much more water to permeate through than any other permeable surface. And when filled with clean/clear crushed stone, ArmorGrid is the most solid permeable surface you can invest in today.

Reduces Excavating & Installs Quickly

Thanks to its unique ability of deflecting weight and confining soil, ArmorGrid geocells can typically reduce the amount of excavating required for a project, by a lot. You’ll be reducing the time and money you are spending on each project by installing ArmorGrid. Simply because, with the easy and effective lug-and-slot attachment it’s quick work, and it’s a lifetime of reinforcement and peace of mind.

Depending on the type of soil encountered on the site, our go-to engineer Phil Perzia can consult on your project and help you maximize the performance of your ArmorGrid system. Whether you’re after ground reinforcement, erosion control or building a solid permeable structure(regardless of the finishing surface), we want to help!

Weight Deflecting

Having the ability of withstanding and deflecting up to 1,000 tonnes per square meter (100 tons/Sq.Ft.) means ArmorGrid is versatile in virtually any construction project. From pavement structures to cemetery monuments, ArmorGrid geocells are up to the task. The premium recycled plastic (LDPE) used to make our products means you’re getting premium performance the moment you’ve installed it— temporarily or permanently.

Cellular Confinement

Ground reinforcement happens as a result of the superior cellular confinement you get when using ArmorGrid 3D geocells. With a range of 5 different models and three different thicknesses (30mm, 40mm and 50mm), you’re sure to find the best product for your project. All models have a distinct quality and advantage for certain projects. If you need help finding the right grid, we’re happy to assist you.
